Shillong Laitkor Visit 2017

Shillong ,A Small Visit

From last week I was visited diffrent diffrent locations of Shillong valley with our team.
Weared khasi dress and known about meghalaya culture.
Umiam lake ,Police bazar, view point air force etc.

It is an  ideal picnic spot, 2000 metres above sea level and 10 kms from the city and is also the highest point in the State. In the evening the city lights below appear like a star-studded abyss.
One need to cross the Indian air force premises to reach the viewpoint.
There are 2 small towers with huge telescope incorporated on each tower to have a great view of the city.
One of the most famous and must visit place in Shillong City. On a clear sunny day entire city of Shillong can be viewed frombthis spot. Being there gives you an awesome experience.
Shillong view point or Shillong peak is an important visiting place in Shillong. There are souvenir shop, tea snacks outlet and you can take your pictures by hiring Khasi traditional dresses. its good and popular in Shillong.

Shillong Peak
Location: East Khasi Hills District, Upper Shillong.
I would like to again visit

Safety Rules And Precautions For Archery

 Archery safety rules.

Archery injuries are fairly common amongst serious archers. injuries  bow wrist, bow elbow, bow shoulder, draw/string shoulder, draw/string elbow, and draw/string wrist and some of those more than once.
There has been very little study made of archery-related injuries. The literature for sports injuries in general, and other sports in particular, is much more voluminous.
Since there is so little known about archery-related injuries I can only share what I suspect.
These kinds of injuries are promoted by the use of poor form and inappropriate equipment. For example and obviously, archers who are overbowed (too much draw weight) will end up inventing some new technique to get the string back.
Not getting your bones lined up to bear the stress of a drawn bow means that your muscles will be invoked to “hold everything in place.” These muscles ( the rotator cuff muscles in the shoulder) are often small and undersized for those tasks and are easy to overstress and injure.
If you feel pain while shooting … stop! Rest and try again another day.
If you feel sore “the next day” from an archery session, that is not unusual. If you feel sore they day after that … you over did it. This doesn’t so much prevent injuries but at least it provides a guide to “how much is too much practice.” The hope is we can learn this without serious injury incurred while getting the lesson.
Modern learning theory indicates that we learn best in short intense sessions. So, a one-hour shooting session in the morning and another in the afternoon is superior to a two-hour or possibly even three-hour continuous session. But, most of us have busy lives and we have few bubbles of spare time … and we love archery, so when we get a morning or afternoon free we go to the range and over do it. Please realize that the Olympic-level athletes are training six days a week: morning, noon, and night but have trained intensely to build up the capacity to train those hours. It did not happen to them over night. has no bearing whatsoever whether you or your students can. Most of my injuries have come about by having little to no regular practice and then being enticed to go and compete which involves what? It involves shooting higher volumes of arrows with a scoring focus which tends to blur if not block the signals that you are doing damage to your body. This is a recipe for injuries.

          safety rules and precautions

  •  Never point your bow at anyone, even if there’s no arrow drawn .
  •  Never fire the arrow high into the air as you cannot predict where it’s going to land.
  •  Keep your arrow aimed towards the ground as you nock it.
  •  You wear an arm guard.
  •  Never draw an arrow if there are any people between you and your target.
  •  Never over-draw your recurve bow (over-drawing is when you pull the string further than   the actual length of your arrow). This can result in serious injury and damage to your   equipment.
  • If you are using wooden arrows, always check them for cracks or splintering before your shooting session.
  • Make it a habit to always check the bow limbs for any damage before you start shooting
  • Take off your watch and/or jewelry before you begin shooting.
  •  Make sure your string is waxed regularly (if unsure of how often to do it, wax the string once every 100 arrows shot)
  •  Finish each shooting session by un-stringing your recurve bow.
  •   Never dry fire your bow (pulling and releasing the string without an arrow seated) this will be dangerous to both you and your bow
  •  Listen carefully to commands given by your coach. If you can’t hear them, ask the coach to speak louder.
  •  Never run while retrieving your arrows, you could hurt yourself with an arrow lodged in the ground, or fail to stop in time and hurt yourself with the arrows lodged in the target.
  •  Keep standing behind the shooting line and never cross it until the instructor gives a clear command for everyone to stop shooting.
  •   Make sure no one is standing immediately behind you when pulling out an arrow from the target, as you could accidentally hurt them when forcefully pulling the arrow out.
  •  If you hear the command “HOLD,” do not shoot an arrow even if it’s already nocked and the bow is draw
  • When each participant has finished shooting their arrows, they should stand back from the shooting line so the supervisor can clearly see that they have finished.
  • If an arrow or part of equipment is dropped in front of the shooting line while shooting is in progress, it can only be picked up after shooting has stopped.             Walk forward to collect the arrows, never run.
  • Keep a eye on the ground for any arrows that may have dropped short of the target and lodged in the ground. Always withdraw the arrows in the opposite direction that they entered, so as not to bend or break the arrow.
  • When withdrawing arrows from the target, make sure no one is standing in front of the target or in the way of the withdrawn arrows. Withdrawing the arrows may require some force and the arrows may come out suddenly from the target butt and the rear end of the arrow could hit someone standing in front of the target
  • When carrying arrows, always hold them to the side pointing DOWN or carry in a quiver and never run.
  • If any person or animal enters the safety zone while shooting is in progress, the emergency signal must be given and all shooting must stop immediately.
  • Even if a bow is held at full draw and the signal is given, the arrow must not be released. The bow should be pointed at the ground and the bowstring let slowly forward. The arrow should be removed from the bow until the range is clear.

India's National Sports Day

honor the legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand Singh.

National sports Day every year on the 29th August. The day is celebrated to honor the legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand Singh.
the legendary hockey player was born on 29 August 1905 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.
29th August happens to be the birth anniversary of Dhyan Chand,
Dhyan Chand is officially known as ‘Major Dhyan Chand’; he enrolled in the Indian army at the age of 16. His mentor Subedar Major Bale Tiwari recognized his talent for hockey early, and guided him through the initial stages of his career in the sport.
Originally named Dhyan Singh, the legend received the nickname ‘Chand’ from his colleagues as he used to wait for the moon to come out and then practise all night in the moonlight.

who made India proud by his extraordinary sporting skills. He was the greatest hockey player India has ever seen.

he learnt the game of hockey from his coach Pankaj Gupta and soon became an expert in ball dribbling and goal scoring. He quickly became the Indian Hockey Team captain due to his excellent playing techniques.
During his sports career Dhyan Chand had won three Olympic medals and till date remains the only hockey player who has received the Padma Bhushan award. He had won the Olympic Gold medal six times in a row for India in hockey. His lifetime awards and achievements in sports are considered as the highest point in the history of Indian sports.
Dhyan Chand contributed to the game even after his retirement; he was the  Chief Hockey Coach at the National Institute of Sports in Patiala for a while, and he also taught at many coaching camps in Rajasthan.
He captained India throughout his playing career and helped India win three Olympic medals – in 1928, 1932 and 1936. He scored more than 400 goals in his career which spanned over 22 years.
Dhyan Chand is arguably the greatest sportsperson that India has ever produced. It is not surprising, then, that the Government decided to celebrate his memory so strikingly; there can be no greater honour than having your birthday designated as the National Sports Day of a country!
This day is celebrated by organizing friendly matches between different Indian hockey teams at the Dhyan Chand National stadium in New Delhi which was constructed in the respect and honor of Major Dhyan Chand.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY 2017

 HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY 2017ЁЯЗоЁЯЗ│
........ЁЯУЭ

Most important day for every Indian citizen as our country got freedom from the British rule. We celebrate this day every year on 15th of August from 1947. Our country is counted as the world’s largest democracy all over the world. India become an independent country on 15th of August in 1947 after sacrifices of thousands of freedom fighters (such as Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, Sukhdev, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Lala Lajpat Rai, Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak, Chandra Shekhar Azad, etc) who worked hard to get independence from the British rule.

Each and every Indian celebrate freedom in their own way such as decorating their places of celebration, raising National Flag, march past, dancing in the streets, singing National Anthem or patriotic songs or participating in many social activities organized at public places. Independence Day is celebrated by the government of India every year when the current Prime Minister of India raises out tricolour national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi followed by Indian army parade, march past, National Anthem recitation, speech and other cultural activities.
it is celebrated with the National Flag salute by the 21 guns firing. Myself prepared in the early morning and wait for the speech of the Indian Prime Minister Modi at TV. On 15th of August get inspired with the history of India’s independence.
The great non-violence movement of the Mahatma Gandhi, Bapu, helps a lot to our freedom fighters to get freedom from the British rule after 200 long years of struggle.Even women (Aruna Asaf Ali, Vijay Laxmi Pandit, Sarojine Naidu, Kasturba Gandhi, Kamala Nehru, Annie Besant, etc) came out from their houses and played their great role in getting freedom.

Self-control (typically called willpower)

Sporting activities and sports psychologists and coaches will tell you that victory is often gained in the mind as much if not more than by the skill an athlete possesses.

Self-control separates us from our ancient ancestors and the rest of the animal kingdom, thanks to our large prefrontal cortex. It is the ability to subdue our impulses in order to achieve longer-term goals. Rather than responding to immediate impulses, we can plan, evaluate alternative actions, and, often enough, avoid doing things we'll later regret. The ability to exert self-control is typically called willpower. scientists have failed to replicate some of the studies underlying the concept of ego depletion.

it is not some kind of negative and limiting behavior, as some people might think. When self-control is used wisely and with common sense, it becomes one of the most important tools for self improvement and for achieving success.

Self control is vital for overcoming obsessions, fears, addictions, and any kind of unsuitable behavior. It puts you in control of your life, your behavior, and your reactions. It improves your relationships, develops patience and tolerance, and is an important tool for attaining success and happiness.

It keeps in check self-destructive, addictive, obsessive and compulsive behavior.Gives you a sense of mastery over your life, and brings balance into your life.Self-control helps to keep over-emotional responses in check or moderation.Self-control eliminates the feeling helplessness and being too dependent on others. It helps to manifest mental and emotional detachment, which contributes to peace of mind.It enables to control moods and reject negative feelings and thoughts.Self-control strengthens self-esteem, confidence, inner strength, self-mastery and willpower. It enables you to take charge of your life.It makes you a responsible and trustworthy human being.

Lack of knowledge and understanding what self-control really is.Strong and uncontrolled emotional responses.Reacting to outside stimuli, without thinking first.Lack of discipline and willpower.Lack of the desire to change and improve.

Developing self control

- First you need to identify in what areas of your life you need to gain more self-control. Where do you find yourself lacking in self-control.
(Eating,Shopping,Drinking,Work,Gambling,Smoking,Obsessive behavior)

-Try identifying the emotions that lack control, such as anger, dissatisfaction, unhappiness, resentment, pleasure or fear.

- Identify the thoughts and beliefs that push you to behave in uncontrolled manner.

- Several times a day, especially when you need to display self control, repeat for a minute or two one of the following affirmations:

- Visualize yourself acting with self-control and self-restraint.
-  Self control will improve considerably, if you work on developing and strengthening your willpower and self-discipline through appropriate exercises. This is actually the most important step for developing self control.

Many people who compete in sporting activities and sports psychologists and coaches will tell you that victory is often gained in the mind as much if not more than by the skill an athlete possesses.

You’ll no doubt have witnessed sporting triumphs being wrenched away from a particular sportsman or woman because they have lost their self control or they’ve been unable to manage their emotions healthily. Gaining control of one’s emotions, especially in the face of extreme pressure or when things seem to be going against you is essential to all great champions. And, whilst remaining ice cool and unflustered to distractions and disappointments seems to come naturally to some athletes more than others, this is an area which can be worked on.

Anxiety And Anger

Anxiety and anger are the two key components of what causes athletes to lose their self control and find it difficult to manage their emotions. It could be a perfectly legitimate disallowed goal in football or your opponent in tennis making detrimental and un-sportsmanlike comments to the media about you that could cause you to lose it. Both anxiety and anger can, with practice, be used to your benefit if managed correctly. Anxiety can be both physical and mental (having negative thoughts or worrying). However, you can turn both of these into positives. Firstly, with anxiety you need to understand that this is a perfectly natural body response in preparation for competing. Therefore, all you then need to do is to focus on controlling that in a positive way through managing it by undertaking breathing exercises and other relaxation processes which help you focus positively on the competition to come.

Anger, on the other hand, can be dealt with differently. It usually comes about either because of something an official or opponent has done or said. Firstly, when it comes to incorrect decisions or perceived incorrect decisions in your view, you need to recognise them but then use the energy that stems from your anger positively. An example might be making your next shot, your best shot. In other words, accepting that bad decisions are part of sport and that sometimes they go for you and sometimes against (meaning they even out in the long run), you can put them behind you more easily and live in the moment rather than becoming distracted by what you felt was an unjust decision. Likewise with barracking from your opponent. Simply view it for what it is – that being an attempt to disrupt you and to make you lose your self control. By looking it in this way, you’re unlikely to let it get to you and you’ll remain in complete self control.

Deep breathing and relaxation exercises both before and even during competition can help to maintain a healthy, well balanced emotional state.

Archery classes by Coach Satish Dubey.

Archers need to learn a shot sequence because they need it to perform and you need it to help them perform better
Learn Archery through few steps

Archery Coach Satish Dubey
 Stance

Have one foot on either side of the shooting
line Your body should be centered over the shooting line Feet parallel
Feet shoulder width apart
Explain to them that there are different methods of standing, with feet slanted instead of parallel, but that they will just be learning this method
Nock
- Place the arrow on the arrow rest
-      Nock the vane below the nock indicator
Have an arrow on hand so that they can properly see the nock indicator and give visual examples
Extend
- Place bow hand on the riser using only the web and meaty part of your thumb
- Turn your bow arm 45 degrees
- Place three fingers on the string, 1 finger above the arrow, two below
- The string should rest on the first groove of their fingers
Use your discretion on any other descriptions
Pre-Draw
- Raise bow
- Begin drawing the string of the bow
Tell the importance of raising the bow up high and how that is linked with settling into the draw           and not having to fight gravity
Draw
- Come to full draw
- Shoulders down
- Elbows up
- Use your back muscles
Make sure to point out proper form and the proper way to draw the bow.
Anchor
- Hand should be cupped against your jaw
- Pinky should be able to touch the neck
- String should touch lips and nose
Remind them not to be afraid of putting the string right against their face
       Tighten hold
Aim
- Do not start aiming until this point
- Focus on the center, aim for seconds
- Do not stop expanding
Tighten Release
- Relax fingers
- Keep expanding bow arm
Follow-Through
- Keep your bow arm up until the arrow hits the target
Follow your hand through along your chin
Remind  them that release and follow-through are closely linked together

What your archers are thinking is roughly equally important to what they are doing physically while shooting. If while drawing the bow they are thinking about where to put their trophy in their bedroom, or wondering whether their stance is really right, or wondering whether they have enough time to do their homework , they are doomed! To shoot well, their minds must be thinking only about what they are doing right then, as they are shooting.

A shot sequence combined with the Rule of Discipline
form the core of all mental programs.

If you have not been using a shot sequence in your own archery, coach teach thyself!
We continue to insist that if you want to coach intermediate archers, you need to be an intermediate archer. Experience can’t be learned from books. Intermediate archers need to learn a shot sequence because they need it to perform and you need it to help them perform better.

Going to the archery doctor

Dealing With Difficulties(Rain,wind,heat,humidity,Panic)

Some time ,even if you think you have prepared all that you can, something you did not except happens.
if you throw a hessy fit every time something goes wrong, you are unlikely to succeed at archer.(your attitude is the most important aspect of dealing with difficulties.if you can view difficulties as normal or even as just an addition to the challenge you face on regular basis. you are for more likely to be successful in archery,a good way to have a good attitude  towards difficulties is to be prepared for them. many parts of archery are under your control, and some are not.

RAIN:-You are halfway through a competition and it begins to rain.
you should try adjusting your sight down .if the rain is light, may be you need just half of that adjustment.being prepared also means having appropriate clothing,a towel to dry off your equipment.you may be need some paper tissues to dry small items.if you shoot with scope bring something to keep it dry or to dry it if it get wet.
WIND:-If the wind is steady, you have many more option the most important factor is experience.you have to deal with wind ,the better you will get.consider that wind blowing in your face or towards the target is going to affect the impact point up and down.the simple technique is to let your arrows tell you where to aim.if during to wind behind  you first arrow hit 12" high. we do not recommend changing your sight windage or elevation because if the wind change, you probably won't be able to remember all of the sight changes you made.

HEAT and HUMIDITY:-You must be prepared for exposuer to the sun's rays and heat ,humidity of the competition site or practice area.a hat to keep the sun off and sunblock lotion are necessities. drink plenty of fluids (avoid sugar drink, though)and know the sign of heat fatigue.
high humidity slows down your primary cooling system, evaporation of perspiration.

TARGET PANIC( FEAR):- Today most contentious topic in archery is target panic.this is not surprising. untill recently, though, little progress has been made in addressing it.
'if you talk about it enough you will get it' target panic is a whole pile of maladies that generally result in poor shooting. to hold your sight on the target or freezing while holding on some part of the target other than the part you want to hit.beginners do not get target panic because they tend to improve signification over time as their form develops and they gain experience.if you have significant problem you will probably need to "take a cure".
treatments:
  (1) Stop shooting
  (2) Shoot a maximum arrows with close and open eyes.
